Brompton Nano Electric Bike

by admin on August 18, 2010

My pride and joy! This is the product of 5 years work to build the ‘best’ electric folding bike. This is a real humdinger!! The motor kit adds just 12 pounds to a bike (5 pounds for the motor, 7 for the battery and controller). It does 15 mph and tows my 190 pound carcass up 14% slopes.

What is a “nano”

I’m thinking of buying brompton.. it seems the ultimate bike while travelling longer distances with train or bus or boat or plane.
Installing electric motor is a good extra, maybe I’ll need that some day.

Flare1564 August 18, 2010 at 10:52 am

It looks too slow though. Maybe if it could go a little faster.

joenzy84 August 18, 2010 at 10:58 am

I’d sell a kidney to get one of those! The Brompton’s are hyper cool to begin with but then when you add the nano motor you become the most ingenious man in the world. Bravo! Does it have reverse motor electricity generation to keep the batteries charged?

…Actually, I´m the boss…. but, it´s OK. It´s a fine and beautiful design…. but, as u said, not for me, or for people like me. Saludos.

Flooddrum August 18, 2010 at 11:24 am

…so it’s not design for you!

Anothercoilgun August 18, 2010 at 11:55 am

Hear of folding strollers?

Leopoldo888 August 18, 2010 at 12:52 pm

hmmm…

cooperdesignco August 18, 2010 at 1:48 pm

Not true. I just recently got a Brompton and it’s fast becoming my favorite ride. The baggage system is really simple and elegant. And the best things so far are keeping it in my living room without it taking up much room, Flying with it in the airplane overhead, and using it for all my errands.

I can fold and unfold it several times in the time it would take me to get my full-size road bike out of the basement door and lock up.

I understand that, but I think that specially if you are in the city, in a very big and stressing city (like mine…) the last thing you want to do before going to work, with your suit and all, is UNFOLD a bike. If getting out of house is that complicated, Im sure that I´ll end taking the bus. This bike is more for retired people with a lot of time, I think.

GearHead318 August 18, 2010 at 3:21 pm

it can fit in small places like a car trunk or a closet good for people that live in the city

Leopoldo888 August 18, 2010 at 3:28 pm

I don´t see the point of folding a bike….

matula253 August 18, 2010 at 4:07 pm

o, and lose the bar-control already. it should apply power as you do. double your power for example.

matula253 August 18, 2010 at 4:11 pm

that’s really the best i’ve seen. put it in a bike messengers hands, and we can see crazy videos of riding in traffic 60-70km/h :)

specopps117 August 18, 2010 at 4:27 pm
